Brick repair and tuckpointing. 3 Sep 2010

After years of neglect, the tuckpointing and brick repair around the church and school building has been completed. The crew from Prestia Tuckpointing worked through Labor Day weekend and a few late nights to complete the work while the kids were gone. There were some extremly bad sections that were simply crumbling. Not only do things look better, but we won’t see those little pieces of brick laying around the chimney anymore.

Upgrades to our elementary building 29 Sep 2010

New carpeting will be installed in the 2nd and 3rd floor hallways of the elementary school (‘57 building as some know it) in the coming weeks. The Immanuel PTL is financing these much needed improvements, which will cover the unsightly old tile on the floors with tough new carpet. Not only will things look better, but the halls will be much quieter. Special thanks to the PTL for there support in helping improve the looks, safety and marketability of our Christian day school. Remember to support our PTL in it’s fundraising endevors.

New carpet instalation complete! If you haven’t had a chance, be sure to check out the 2nd and 3rd floor hallways and stairwells in the elementary (‘57) building. The new carpet makes the whole place look newer, and drastically improves the first impression one gets when entering, which is very important when trying to bring new families to our school. Thanks to the crew from Futures Inc. which did an awesome job on the installation and especially thanks to the Immanuel PTL for financing this improvement.

Ed. note. Many people, including the installers, commented that covering that old dated tile with the new carpet takes “50 years off the age of the building”. If you stand at one end and look down the hall, it truly makes the school look 3 years old instead of 53. (just don’t look at the old doors!)

“Extreme Makeover-Office Edition” Be a part of it! 14 Sep 2010

Now that the outside of the building has been spruced up, with fixed bricks and a new parking lot, it’s time to turn our attention to the inside. The Church and School offices are in dire need of updating. The carpet is worn, walls dirty and scratched and things are generally looking run down. We are preparing to begin a new project, call it “Extreme Makeover-Office Edition”. We’ll be “making over” our church and school office area, with new paint, carpet, lighting, kitchen facilities, and security upgrades throughout, plus a special “High Tech” Clausen Room. We estimate the cost at approximately $20,000.00. We are currently looking for funds to finance this long needed updating. Can you help? Stop by our display in Fellowship Hall in the coming weeks and see what the future holds for the office. Are you a Thrivent member? You can have your Choice Giving dollars directed towards this project as well. Keep checking back here for updates and information.

“Extreme Makeover-Office Edition” Update! 8 Feb 2011

We’ve taken a little time off due to the holidays and schedule conflicts, but work will resume in earnest shortly. Most of the painting has been completed, with only a couple of rooms to go. We’ve made progress in the Clausen Room, and now have the big new TV mounted on the wall and wired for communication. Once this is up and running, we’ll be able to hold meetings with people who aren’t in the room, and it will be just like they’re there! Strop by and check out the progress, or better yet, join one of the bible studies that meet there every Sunday morning.

Com Ed offers a rebate to commercial customers for the installation of motion sensors on lighting. Controlling the lighting with motion sensors eliminates lights being on unnecessarily at times when rooms are not in use. By controlling almost all of the lighting in the building, we were able to take full advantage of this rebate and get most, if not all of our investment returned. Plus we’ll have the added benefit of energy savings for years to come! Thank you gentlemen!
