Stephen Ministry

”Love one another… as I have loved you.”

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry equips people to provide confidential Christian care to those in congregations and communities who are experiencing a difficult time in their lives.

Stephen Ministers care for others during hard times, such as these:

  • Hospitalization
  • Separation/Divorce
  • Loss through a death
  • Loneliness
  • Spiritual crisis
  • Terminal illness
  • Job crisis
  • Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility
  • Incarceration
  • Chronic illness
  • Relocation
  • Accident or disaster recovery

Who can become a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Ministers are caring Christian people who befriend a person in need. They receive 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care. They meet with the person in need for about an hour each week. They come alongside the person during a difficult journey praying, listening, and encouraging the person along their walk.

Stephen Ministers are Children of God supporting hurting people and showing them Christ’s care and love.

Stephen Ministry News: February 2010

New Class Commissioning: July 18, 2010

Our new Stephen Ministry class is on the verge of completing their first 50 hours of training. On July 18th, we will be commissioned as Stephen Ministers. Our training will continue, but we will also have the privilege of being assigned to help a Care Receiver. We will walk with them through whatever trial they may be going through. However, we know for certain that we can only do this because we have the assurance that GOD WALKS WITH US both. He holds our hands, holds us up through the storm, and gives us His peace. We are so privileged to be given this ministry! Please pray for us as we continue on this journey.
